Our private tours are very popular. They can accommodate up to 12 passengers and are a great way for smaller groups to see the sights.
Private tours are available from 10am to 8pm 7 days a week. If you wish to book within 48 hours (short notice), then it is advisable to call us, as in some unusual cases we may not have enough staff scheduled.
About the private Tour
The private tour includes an entertaining commentary from our chauffeur. Our guides adjust their
commentary to appeal to the demographic of their passengers, so parents find the tours are
educational and fun for their kids too.
The private tour takes the same route as our private tours and lasts approximately 45 minutes,
starting and ending at our station on Water Lane.
Private Tours for Up to 12 Guests
With our private tours we offer you the luxury of a whole boat to yourself which is not shared with other passengers. Each boat holds up to 12 passengers, however, we may reduce this during flood or drought.

Tailored Commentary, Just for You
Booking a private tour gives you more freedom to tailor your guide’s commentary to your party’s interests and tastes. You might prefer a more relaxed approach, where you can ask your guide to tell you about specific scenery and buildings that interest you, rather than hearing the traditional commentary. However you wish to hear the commentary all of our chauffeurs are very knowledgeable about Canterbury, its buildings, and history as well as local folklore and ghost stories!
Private tours last 45 minutes and start and end at our station on Water Lane. Many people find that accompanied by Champagne or Pimms the private tour makes for the perfect authentic punting experience. These extras can be purchased during the checkout process.
